New to Shapewear? How to Choose the Right Size and Compression Level
Great shapewear should feel snug and supportive — never painful or breathless. The secret is simple: the right size and the right compression level. Here's how to get both.
1. Measure first. Use a soft tape to measure your natural waist and the fullest part of your hips, then check the brand's size chart. We carry Ann Chery and Leonisa — and each has its own chart.
2. Between sizes? Size UP, not down. Sizing down does not slim you more — it causes rolling, bulging and discomfort. The correct size lies flat and smooth against your body.
3. Pick your compression level:
- Light / comfy — everyday smoothing and all-day comfort
- Moderate — defines the waist and tummy; perfect for work and events
- Firm — sculpted, hourglass shaping for special occasions
- Extra-firm — maximum control and recovery (often post-surgical)
4. Match the piece to your goal. Tummy → high-waisted shaper panty or shorts; all-over smoothing → a body shaper; defined waist → a waist cincher; lifted curves → a butt lifter.
5. Break it in. With firmer pieces, start with a few hours and build up. It should never hurt.
