How to Store Your Shapewear So It Lasts

How to Store Your Shapewear So It Lasts

You wash it gently — great. But how you store shapewear between wears matters just as much. Toss it in a jumbled drawer and you'll stretch it out, snag it, and lose its shape long before its time. Here's how to keep it happy in the drawer. 🤍

Fold, don't hang (mostly). Hanging heavier shaping pieces can let gravity slowly stretch them out of shape. For most shapers, gentle folding is kinder. Lay it flat, fold it loosely, and lay it in the drawer — no tight scrunching.

Don't over-stuff the drawer. Cramming everything in creases the fabric and forces pieces against hooks and clasps. Give them a little room so they keep their shape and don't snag on their neighbours.

Keep hooks and straps tucked. If a piece has hooks (like a cincher) or bra clasps, fasten them before you store it. That stops them catching on other garments and putting little pulls in the fabric.

Separate the delicates. Tape, nipple covers and any lace or fine pieces do best kept apart from rougher items and anything with velcro or hooks. A small pouch or divider keeps them from getting snagged or dirty.

Store it clean and fully dry. Never put shapewear away damp — trapped moisture invites mildew and odours, and it weakens the fibres. Make sure it's completely dry first, and keep it somewhere cool and dry, out of direct sun (sun fades and degrades elastic).

Rotate your pieces. If you wear shapewear often, having two or three and rotating them means the elastic gets time to "rest" and recover between wears — and they all last longer for it.

A tidy drawer isn't just satisfying — it's genuinely one of the easiest ways to protect what you've invested in. 🤍
