If putting on shapewear has ever felt like a wrestling match, you're not doing it wrong — you just haven't been shown the trick. Done right, it takes seconds and it's gentle on both you and the garment. 🤍
Roll, don't yank. This is the whole secret. Instead of pulling a piece up inch by inch (which strains the fabric and tests your patience), roll it down into a doughnut first, step or slip in, then unroll it up over your body. For a bodysuit, roll it down to the waist, step in, unroll upward.
Go slow and even. Ease it up gradually and smooth as you go, rather than dragging one side up hard. Yanking is what pops seams and stretches out the elastic before its time.
Smooth everything into place. Once it's on, run your hands over it to settle the fabric flat — no folds, no bunching. Make sure the waistband sits where it should (usually at or above your natural waist) and lies flat, not rolled.
Dry skin helps. Shapewear glides on much easier over dry skin, so put it on before lotion or right after you've fully dried off. If you're really struggling, that's often a sign the size is too small — not that you need more muscle.
Give it a minute. Once it's on, move around, sit, take a breath. It should feel like smooth, gentle support that stays put — not something you're fighting all day.
Treat it kindly on the way on and off and it'll not only feel better today, it'll last a whole lot longer too. 🤍
