How to Find Your Perfect Shapewear Size

How to Find Your Perfect Shapewear Size

The single biggest reason people end up hating shapewear? The wrong size. And nine times out of ten, that means too small. Let's fix that for good.

Start with your measurements, not your dress size. Grab a soft tape and measure your waist (the narrowest part), your hips (the fullest part), and your bust if you're buying a bodysuit or bra. Every brand's chart is a little different, so always check the specific size guide on the product page — your "usual size" isn't a reliable shortcut.

The golden rule: when you're between sizes, size up. It feels backwards, we know. But shapewear that's too small doesn't smooth — it digs, rolls at the edges, and creates the very bumps you're trying to avoid. The larger size still smooths beautifully, and you'll actually be comfortable enough to wear it all day.

Do a quick fit check. It should feel like firm, gentle support — snug but never painful. You should be able to slide a hand under the waistband, sit down without gasping, and take a full breath. Red flags: skin bulging over the edges, numbness, or a waistband that rolls down the moment you move. Any of those means size up.

Match the fit to the moment. Everyday piece? Prioritise comfort. A structured cincher for a three-hour event? A slightly firmer fit is fine for the night — but you should still be able to enjoy dinner.
